April A to Z Challenge Letter "H" = The Hunger Games #AtoZChallenge @AprilA2Z

Welcome back to the A to Z April Challenge.
Today's letter is "H" and my topic is = The Hunger Games.

My friend Melissa who runs/owns Beneath The Cover is going to give us her opinion on the book and the movie. Let's check it out...

Hey all. I am Melissa Murray owner of the book page Beneath The Cover and I am guest posting on The Hunger Games. I will do a review of the book and movie.

OK, with all the hype of the Hunger Games, I would like to give you all a quick review of the book I read two years ago and got hooked. And the movie that has come out and swept us all away.

The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1)

I will start with the book. I loved it with my whole heart. This book will pull you in and make you feel everything e main character Katniss feels. I know I did and you probably don't have a soul if you feel nothing throughout this heart felt edge of your seat read. All of the characters are amazing and you just fall in love with them.

Yes, there is a choice of Gale or Peeta but it is also about survival. Or thing is on our Katniss' mind is her sister. You can feel through the words of this book how much Katniss loves her sister and would do ANYTHING to protect her and keep her safe.

The there is Peeta you cannot NOT love him. He is someone who goes in having no hope of surviving, he sees the survival and drive in Katniss along with everyone else seeing that in her too. She knew they didn't have a chance but she was fighting, for herself and the ones she cares about. Peeta again has loved Katniss from a far fora long time but she didn't look at him twice until they got there, and it didn't help he confessed his feelings in front of everyone but what can you do!?

All I know this is a MUST read!! There is. So much going on in this book that you will never be bored, get to a slow part, thou will have a mix of. Feelings and all of them showing. So if you have not read it. Go out and get it!!

Now for the movie..

Wow. Wow. Wow. All I can say is. LOVE. They did such an amazing job with this movie, and if you haven't seen it yet, read the books first before instead of after, you will be caught up and know everything that is going on, and not asking the person with you. I cannot stand that, read the god damn book or don't go see the movie so you can ask who is who, and what is going on!

The actors and actresses were all amazing and I could not pick better people myself. They are all how I pictured them while reading. Some parts were not as they were in the book but everything all together was pretty freaking amazing.

I was not disappointed in the least, if anything I left with a HUGE smile on my face ready to see it again and again. Jennifer Lawrence was an amazing Katniss, and I know many people would not disagree she did the book justice in every sense. She was just amazing and you could feel what she was feeling through the whole movie.

Again if you do not cry in the movie--you don't have a soul, in most parts you couldn't help but cry and lean forward in your seat waiting to see what happened. I know I was almost in the girls hair ahead of me because I was so engrossed in the movie and what was happening. In some parts I was laughing, crying, and jumping out of my seat!

So, I hope you all have enjoyed my little rant/ review, enough to go out buy the book then go see an amazing movie that FINALLY does a book justice.

Thank you so much, Melissa. That was awesome!

  1. I loved both the books and the movie, although the movie made me a bit "sea sick" from the hand held camera work.
I wrote about the Hunger Games on my blog too, but it's not exactly about the movie or the book.

  2. Agreed. The first book was like nothing else, and I thought the film matched well with it.

  3. I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I agree that the choice regarding Peeta and Gale was there, but the survival aspect was the hook, line and sinker for me. It drew me, caught me and never let go.

I haven't seen the movie but I hope to do so very soon.

  5. Another great post!
I particularly loved Stanley Tucci. He was just so perfect. I laughed every time he came on. I can't imagine anyone other than Jennifer Lawrence playing Katniss--she was amazing.

  10. I only read the book two weeks ago, and I absolutely loved it. I went to see the movie the very next day after I finished the book, and I was super impressed with how well they captured the book. I'm usually disappointed in movies based on books, but I think they did an amazing job bringing that world to life.

Wishing you continued success with the A to Z challenge,

Thanks so much for the nice comments, Hunger Games is a very exciting thing for me to tak to about. I love getting people to read new things and this is one of the books, even before the movie came out I was trying to get this book into people's hands. And I know I was disappointed but it isa MUST read before the movie.
